Chances are you know a thing or two about Saban's "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers." Since the first group of teens were chosen to "morph" into warriors and command giant robots known as Zords in 1993, the Power Rangers franchise has been a Saturday morning staple. After spawning a pair of feature films in the mid-1990s and a dark and gritty "unauthorized" reboot from Adi Shankar starring James Van Der Beek and Katee Sackhoff earlier this year, the Rangers are poised in a big way for their latest resurgence.

In addition to Lionsgate's planned 2017 movie, BOOM! Studios will launch a brand new ongoing comic book series in 2016 from writer Kyle Higgins and artist Hendry Prasetya with backup stories by Steve Orlando and Colin Howell. January will see the release of a #0-issue that functions as a prelude to the ongoing's debut in March, the launch of "Green Ranger: Year One."

What It Is: Based on Saban's long-running Power Rangers franchise, five teens from Angel Grove High are granted superpowers and giant robot dinosaur Zords to defend Earth against the alien villain Rita Repulsa. When Repulsa creates an evil Green Power Ranger by brainwashing recent transfer student Tommy, the team is able to free him from her grasp and get him on their side. But with remnants of Repulsa's control still stirring in the back of Tommy's mind, he must confront the fact he may be more of a danger to his new team than a help. This is "Green Ranger: Year One."
