Tonight's episode of The Writers' Room -- the talk show hosted by Community actor/Oscar-winning screenwriter Jim Rash that takes a behind-the-scenes look at the writing staffs of popular television series -- focuses on comic book adaptations, specifically current AMC megahit The Walking Dead and 10-season monolith Smallville, which ended in 2011. Joining Rash in the discussion are Walking Dead franchise creator Robert Kirkman, Smallville executive producers Al Gough and Miles Millar, TV Guide's Michael Schneider and Attack of the Show alum/occasional comic book writer Blair Butler.

In advance of the episode, which airs at 9 p.m. ET/PT on SundanceTV, SPINOFF has an exclusive clip, featuring Kirkman discussing his decision to keep Rick Grimes' right hand intact for the television series after having long since severing ties with it in the comic book.
