New Image Comics series "Descender" is written by Jeff Lemire and illustrated by Dustin Nguyen. Yet Lemire -- illustrator of "Sweet Tooth," "Trillium" and more -- has stepped into his familiar role of artist for a variant cover of "Descender" #1, the debut issue of the forthcoming new creator-owned series. CBR has the exclusive first look at the cover.

"The high concept is just that -- there is a ragtag group of robots on the run, jumping from planet to planet. The main character is an extremely lifelike robot named TIM-21," Lemire told CBR News last year. "It's his story and his story to survive along with this oddball group of companion robots that he hooks up with and it's also the bigger mystery of who the destructive robots are and how he is somehow linked to them."

"Descender" is slated to debut on March 4, and the film rights have already been acquired by Sony Pictures Entertainment. Here's the official solicitation copy:
