IDW Publishing may be primarily known for its vast roster of licensed comics -- "My Little Pony," "G.I. Joe" and "Transformers" among the current crop -- but the company has also had notable hits with original series over the years, like "30 Days of Night" and "Locke & Key." The publisher looks to emphasize that aspect of the company in August with the five-week "Creator Visions" event, with one new "creator-driven" series launched each Wednesday of the month. CBR has the exclusive first details.

Things start with a new volume of "The Adventures of Augusta Wind," from writer J.M. DeMatteis and artist Vassilis Gogtzilas, slated to be the "five-issue conclusion" of the all-ages fantasy story that started at IDW in 2012. The following week sees the debut of a new "Atomic Robo" series from Brian Clevinger and Scott Wegener, the five-issue "Atomic Robo and the Temple of Od."

"Jackboot & Ironheel" follows in week three, a four-issue series written and illustrated by "2000 AD" veteran David "Max" Millgate. It's about a football player (soccer if you're in the states) who winds up in the midst of World War II. James Kochalka's "Superf*ckers" returns for the fourth week of August, for its first monthly five-issue miniseries. Each issue will have a back-up story by an acclaimed indie creator, starting with Jake Lawrence of "Teen Dog" fame.

The fifth week of August is slated to see the release of "Jim Thompson's The Killer Inside Me," a five-issue comic book adaptation of the celebrated 1952 crime novel. The series will be written by journalist Devin Faraci and illustrated by Vic Malhotra.

Full solicitation text and cover art follows; check back early Wednesday for IDW Publishing's full August 2016 solicitations.

Jim Thompson's The Killer Inside Me #1 (of 5)-SPOTLIGHT

Devin Faraci (w) • Vic Malhotra (a & c)

Jim Thompson's sinewy, brutal, and beloved novel comes to life as a five-part graphic noir! Adapted by writer Devin Faraci (The Fade-In) and illustrated with gut-punchingly vivid art by Vic Malhotra (Murder Book).

In THE KILLER INSIDE ME, Thompson went where few have dared, giving us a pitch-black glimpse into the mind of the American serial killer years before Charles Manson, John Wayne Gacy, and Brett Easton Ellis's American Psycho, in the novel that will forever be known as the master performance of one of the greatest crime novelists of all time.

Lou Ford is the deputy sheriff of a small town in Texas. The worst thing most people can say against him is that he's a little slow and a little boring. But, then, most people don't know about the sickness-the sickness that almost got Lou put away when he was younger. The sickness that is about to surface again.
