Dark Horse Comics and Archie Comics had some of the most unexpected news of last October's New York Comic Con with the announcement of "Archie Meets Predator" from the creative team of "Grindhouse" writer Alex de Campi and Archie veteran artist Fernando Ruiz. The basic concept is exactly what the title implies: the Predator from 20th Century Fox's series of films (and many Dark Horse comics series over the years) hunting down Archie and the gang during a spring break trip to Costa Rica.

CBR can exclusively announce that the series is now titled "Archie Vs. Predator" -- bring a bit of "Alien vs. Predator" symmetry to the name -- and that the first issue is scheduled for release on April 15. Most intriguingly, CBR has the first look at Ruiz's cover for the debut issue, and seven pages of interior art from the latest example of Archie's willingness to "go there" in the era of co-CEO Jon Goldwater willingness to make bold moves.

"I think the real fun for teen horror is the way the teens interact with each other," de Campi told CBR News in October. "You can do a lot with the Archie characters because there's so much interpersonal teen drama there, as well as the drama of there also being a Predator after them. There's an embarrassment of riches. It could never be on ongoing because that would stretch the bounds of credibility. It's not going to take the Predator more than four issues to kill them all."

"Archie Vs. Predator" #1 is slated for release on April 15, 2015.
