As the debut of DC Comics' April 2014 solicitations draws closer, the publisher has provided CBR with an exclusive first look at two of its upcoming series: the "Forever Evil Aftermath: Batman Vs. Bane" one-shot by Peter J. Tomasi and Scot Eaton, and "Secret Origins," a new ongoing series that focuses in on the beginnings of the DCU heroes -- presumably by a rotating creative team depending on the characters covered. ("Secret Origins" #1 focuses on Superman, Supergirl and Dick Grayson with stories by "Action Comics" writer Greg Pak, "Supergirl" writer Tony Bedard and "Nightwing" writer Kyle Higgins with an art team of Will Conrad and more.)

"Secret Origins" may be a new ongoing series for the New 52, but the first version of the series was actually published in 1961, with a similar focus: telling the origins of then-contemporary DC Comics characters. The series lasted for 50 issues, and the concept was revisited during "52" and "Countdown" with short, quick origin stories.
