Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis' 2009-2010 event Blackest Night saw lanterns of varying colors from across the universe to defeat Nekron and the Black Lanterns. Sinestro plays a key role in overcoming Nekron, as he initially gets control of the White Ring, though he nearly fails. In the end, it's Hal Jordan who finally prevails over Nekron by forming the White Lantern Corps, which allows the hero to undo the damage done by the villain. However, Tim Seeley, Kyle Hotz and Dexter Vines' Tales from the Dark Multiverse: Blackest Night #1 sees Sinestro refusing Hal's help, leading to the destruction of the universe in the process.
