Recently, Disney gave a new hope to "Star Wars" fans looking for further adventures of George Lucas' epic film world on the big screen, but comic fans know the Star Wars saga has always continued in print thanks to Dark Horse. This February, that expanded universe will grow a little wider with a new entry in the "Dark Times" saga.

CBR News has learned that starting that month, Dark Horse will launch the new five-issue mini series "Star Wars: Dark Times -Fire Carrier" by Randy Stradley and Gabriel Guzman under covers by Doug Wheatley. Set in the bleak era of Empire rule between the two film trilogies, this particular comic will focus on Jedi Master K'Kruhk -a surviving warrior on the run from Darth Vader who must hide two Padawans from death on a planet under the boot of the Empire.

Below, check out the first issue's solicits and the development of the cover to "Fire Carrier" #1 as Wheatley takes the design of the new Jedi Master and his young charges from a detailed thumbnail to full pencils and flat colors to a vibrant, finished cover. And stay tuned to CBR News for more on the series as it's available!
