EXCLUSIVE: Brian Wood Writing Robotech for Titan Comics

After first announcing the series in June, Titan Comics and Harmony Gold USA’s upcoming “Robotech” comic has finally revealed the first member of its creative team. CBR has the exclusive announcement that multiple Eisner Award nominee Brian Wood will write the ongoing title.

“We are excited to have the opportunity to work with Brian to expand the Robotech universe.” Harmony Gold USA’s President of Animation Tommy Yune said in a statement. “His bold approach to storytelling is thoughtful and will be full of surprises for fans.”

Titan has yet to announce the series’ artist, but promises more information about the anticipated comic “very shortly.” The publisher previously revealed the series’ “retro” cover art by Jason and John Waltrip, who fans should recall from their previous work on “Robotech II: The Sentinels,” “Robotech Genesis: The Legend of Zor” and “Robotech: Prelude to the Shadow Chronicles,” the cover will grace the first issue of the 2017-launching comic.

Created by re-editing three different anime series, “Robotech” originally aired in syndication in the United States in 1984. It’s a sci-fi epic in which the human race finds itself on the brink of annihilation and under attack by a fleet of gigantic alien warships capable of destroying Earth. Humanity’s only hope for survival lies within the secrets of Robotechnology, which allows humans to develop powerful transforming robotic systems and interstellar spacecraft.
