On October 23, Titan Magazines and Skybound team up to bring zombie fans everywhere a behind-the-scenes look at Robert Kirkman’s “The Walking Dead” television show with “The Walking Dead: The Official Magazine.” The magazine features interviews with the cast and crew of the show, a look into the writers’ room and two different covers. CBR has the exclusive reveal of “The Walking Dead” artist Charlie Adlard’s alternative cover for the first issue of “The Walking Dead: The Official Magazine” featuring the shambling zombie hordes in beautiful, undead color.
“The Walking Dead: The Official Magazine” is the latest in a number of announcements ramping up excitement for “The Walking Dead” #100 hitting stores July 11 during Comic-Con International 2012 at San Diego. Adlard spoke with CBR in May about the milestone issue and his thoughts on the upcoming third season of the television adaptation on AMC.
“You’re going to see Michonne, Governor, some of the more iconic characters coming in,” Adlard teased about the third season. “Especially when — you can take a character like Hershel and do the look of him completely different from how he is in the comic book. It doesn’t really matter. As long as he’s an old guy, it doesn’t matter. I’m not going to sit here and say they all have to look like the comic book, because this is meant to be a realistic show, it’s not some sort of cartoon. I was fine with how Maggie looks, I was fine with how Hershel looks. It doesn’t matter as long as they act the characters. I will admit that Michonne and the Governor do have to look right because they are so unique in their appearance. I can’t say any more, but I’m really trying to get on set and see the prison, see Michonne, see the Governor, etc. I think for me, that will be a bit more strange, a bit magical, perhaps, seeing these people that were really completely from my head translated onto the screen.”
