New issues of "Afterlife with Archie" have become something of a special occasion given the book's infrequent shipping schedule -- but the team of Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Francesco Francavilla and Jack Morelli are back with "Afterlife with Archie" #10, a special interlude installment of the current "Betty: R.IP." arc, set for release on Aug. 31.

"Afterlife" #10 is set to pause from the ongoing zombie apocalypse action and flashback to the origin story of Josie and the Pussycats -- surely a more disturbing and scary origin of the musical trio than fans would otherwise expect. It's part of a busy upcoming few weeks for the classic Archie characters, as a new "Josie and the Pussycats" ongoing series -- part of the non-"Afterlife" "New Riverdale" initiative that's been unfolding over the past year over Archie's core titles -- is set to launch on Sept. 28, from the creative team of co-writers Marguerite Bennett & Cameron DeOrdio and artist Audrey Mok.

Additionally, "Afterlife with Archie" #10 -- the first new "Afterlife" since late May" -- has moved from the standard 32 pages at $3.99 to 40 pages at $4.99. CBR has an exclusive first look inside the issue, which sports covers from Francavilla and Jim Balent.
