In admittedly unexpected and surprising news, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Stephen Levinson -- whose production company Leverage Management created both "Entourage" and "Ballers" -- is developing an all-new, cross-media franchise called "Alien Bounty Hunter." And it all kicks off with a comic book series from CME Comics in 2016.

Following the adventures of an "unorthodox bounty hunter, hired by the U.S. government to do a job they can't: track down the world's most wanted criminal -- an alien who poses an unusual threat to society," the straight forwardly named "Alien Bounty Hunter" may begin with the comic series but Levinson plans on stretching it across multiple media platforms, including film, for which he's brought aboard Mark Wahlberg as a producing partner.

Certainly alien, sci-fi franchise might seem like an unlikely fit for the team that brought everyone "Entourage" and the currently airing HBO series "Ballers," but just remember, the guy that created "Mad Max" also made "Happy Feet" and "Babe: Pig in the City."

The adventures of the "Alien Bounty Hunter" begins next year with the release of the comic book series from CME Comics.
