Cameron Arrigioni has cut together a trailer that reimagines The Empire Strikes Back as a modern-day blockbuster. The new promo for the beloved Star Wars film follows the pattern we've come to know forward and backward over the past few years: narration provided by the film's expository dialogue, plenty of pensive scenes of people turning and looking and out of context action shots that build in intensity as the score (from Michael Giacchino's Star Trek work) swells underneath. And just like any modern trailer, it reveals way too much of the story -- although it does leave John Ratzenberger's surprise cameo as Major Bren Derlin unspoiled. One thing's for sure: stacking rocks has never looked this exciting.

We will get to see just how closely this trailer lines up to the real deal when the first new Star Wars film, The Force Awakens, approaches its release date next year. That film opens on Dec. 18, 2015.
