The fourth season of The Flash has rejuvenated the series' brighter nature of yesteryear, but that won't stop the Elongated Man from antagonizing the Scarlet Speedster when he makes his Central City debut.

The fourth episode of Season 4 will air Oct. 31 and is titled “Elongated Journey Into Night.” The episode's official synopsis reads:

Cisco (Carlos Valdes) is shocked when Gypsy’s (guest star Jessica Camacho) father, Breacher (guest star Danny Trejo), shows up on Earth-1. Breacher takes an immediate disliking to Cisco and decides to hunt him. Meanwhile, Barry (Grant Gustin) runs into his old nemesis, Ralph Dibny (guest star Hartley Sawyer).

Directed by longtime Flash actor Tom Cavanagh and guest-starring Danny Trejo, the episode will introduce Ralph Dibny (AKA the Elongated Man) who is typically a superhero in the pages of DC Comics canon, though The CW version is set to change the character's backstory and role. In a recent interview with CBRThe Flash showrunner Todd Helbing revealed that Ralph and Barry Allen already have a history together and share a "checkered" past.

Created by John Broome and Carmine Infantino in 1960, the Elongated Man first appeared in The Flash Vol. 1 #112 as a potential villain, but was later proven innocent of any crimes. Infatuated with contortionists as a kid and desperately seeking to become one, he discovered that every contortionist he knew imbibed a gingo fruit called Yucatan. Putting his scientific knowledge to use, Dibny created a super-powerful extract, thus giving him hyper-elastic powers.

Starring Grant Gustin as the Scarlet Speedster, The Flash airs each Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW. The series also stars Jesse L. Martin, Tom Cavanagh, Carlos Valdes, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Keiynan Lonsdale and more.
