While it’s obvious Hela existed in the comics decades before Rita Repulsa was even a thought, much less before she was reinvented for the “Power Rangers” reboot, star Elizabeth Banks couldn’t help but throw a bit of good-natured shade at Cate Blanchett’s take on the iconic Marvel villain.
In a recent tweet, Banks shared a few screenshots of her character’s updated look alongdside some shots of Blanchett’s Queen of Hel from “Thor: Ragnarok’s” recently released first trailer. And while the two aren’t exactly twins, we suppose the argument could be made that they might at least look like close cousins.

Beyond their similar taste in black and green skintight ensembles, the pair also share similar approaches in how they conduct their business; namely, they want to take what they want, and woe to any so-called superhero who deign stand in their way. While Hela’s full motivations remain somewhat shrouded in mystery at this point, there’s little doubt that she’s just as willing as Rita Repulsa to do whatever it takes to achieve her ultimate goals.
Directed by Taika Waititi, “Thor: Ragnarok” stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson, Mark Ruffalo and Blanchett as Hela, Asgardian ruler of Hel. It’s scheduled for release on November 3.
