After working with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson on the "Baywatch" movie, Zac Efron is close to teaming up with Hugh Jackman in 20th Century Fox's "The Greatest Showman on Earth."

"Wolverine 3" star Jackman is playing the lead role of P.T. Barnum in the musical biopic, which details the showman's creation of the now-famous Barnum & Bailey Circus. Jackman and Fox have been working to bring the project to life since 2009, and Variety reports Efron's addition could mean the movie is finally getting closer to the big screen. "The Greatest Showman on Earth" will be scripted by "Sex and the City" scribe Jenny Bicks and directed by Michael Gracey, who is also attached to the upcoming "Naruto" film.

Efron is currently in theaters with "Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising" and showed off his singing talent as one of the leads in Disney's "High School Musical" films. Jackman, best known as the X-Men's resident clawed mutant (who would be right at home in one of Barnum's sideshows), has a long history with musical theater, including a 1998 performance in "Oklahoma!" that jumpstarted his movie career. He's currently filming his rumored final outing as Wolverine in director James Mangold's "Wolverine 3."
