Edward James Olmos Arrives in Print “Agents of SHIELD” Ad

After joining “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” earlier this year, Edward James Olmos — known for his role on “Battlestar Galactica” — will debut in next week’s episode “Love in the Time of Hydra” and Marvel Comics has initiated a print ad campaign to prove it.

Appearing throughout Marvel’s line of titles this week, the ad teases “Has Coulson Met His Match?,” alluding to the big reveal of a splinter S.H.I.E.L.D. group at the end of this week’s episode. Olmos, who plays a character named Robert Gonzales, is implied to be the leader of this other S.H.I.E.L.D. faction in the ad.

Though Gonzales doesn’t appear to have a comic book counterpart, Olmos hinted in an interview with CBR that “when he smiles, the whole world smiles with him.”

Marvel and ABC also unveiled another installment in their poster series for the upcoming episode earlier today with a poster from Annie Wu featuring Ward and Agent 33. The episode focuses on Coulson’s team as they struggle with Skye’s new abilities in addition to Mac and Bobbi’s reveal of “the Real S.H.I.E.L.D.” to Hunter. Ward and Agent 33 also return for the first time since the midseason finale.

“Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” airs Tuesdays at 9 pm EST on ABC.
