For the past several days, IDW Publishing Chief Creative Officer and Editor-in-Chief Chris Ryall and "Locke & Key" artist Gabriel Rodríguez have released teaser images on social media for a new comic they're working on together -- a four-issue miniseries titled "Onyx."

Revealed today at Emerald City Comicon, "Onyx" is set to debut in July from the team of Ryall and Rodríguez. Here's the official description: "'Onyx' tells the tale of a female metal-suited warrior who comes to Earth on a quest to either save the planet or destroy it. It's up to a team of super-soldiers to figure out which before it's too late, and before a much greater threat overwhelms both them and the planet itself."

"Onyx" will first get a five-page preview in several of IDW's May titles, and is one of five new #1s scheduled for release from the publisher in July. Variant covers for "Onyx" #1 are planned by artists Ashley Wood, Charles Paul Wilson III, Alan Robinson and Sal Buscema.

Rodríguez is best known for his widely acclaimed work on IDW's "Locke & Key" series, written by Joe Hill, and recently illustrated "Little Nemo: Return to Slumberland." Ryall and Rodríguez have a long history of collaboration at IDW, dating back to 2005's "Land Of The Dead," but "Onyx" is their first original co-creation.
