As "Deadpool" promised, Cable will play a role in the upcoming sequel. The gun-toting mutant cyborg has long been an adversary and ally of Deadpool's in the comics, and the pair even starred in a long-running comic series together. Now that team-up is coming to the big screen, and there's one classic action star that is up to the challenge of playing the massive mutant: Dolph Lundgren.

In an interview with Nerdist, Lundgren brought up the character by name when asked if there are any other superheroes he'd like to play. "Isn't there a character named Cable that's coming? Like, he's a big guy..." said Lundgren. When asked directly if he wants to play Cable in "Deadpool 2," Lundgren said with a smile, "Well, I guess I could kick some butt doing that I suppose. We'll see."

Lundgren added that he could see some resemblance between characters he'd played before and the comic character. "I saw the pictures. He looks a little like Drago mixed with Gunner Jensen mixed with I don't know."

While "Deadpool 2" has been confirmed by Fox, it does not yet have a release date.
