A photo that trickled out of the set of "Thor: Ragnarok" last month hitting at a possible meeting between the god of thunder and Doctor Strange. In it, star Chris Hemsworth held a card bearing the address 177A Bleecker St., igniting speculation that Thor will pay a visit to Marvel's Sorcerer Supreme. Was it a mere Easter egg, or a sign that Benedict Cumberbatch will appear in the film?

"Thor: Ragnarok" director Taika Waititi isn't saying, not directly, anyway.

Speaking with Digital Spy, he played coy, saying, "Ohhh I don't know," when asked if the rumor were true. "I am not sure if ... I don't know actually. I can't comment on it. It may have just been something for the fans."

When asked if an appearance by Cumberbatch is a possibility, Waititi was just as elusive. "Might be something like that," he said. "Might be a little tease. Or maybe a tease just for people who wanted to zoom into that photo."

A cameo by Strange wouldn't seem to be outside the realm of possibility, as the Master of the Mystic Arts has teamed with Thor and crossed paths with Loki plenty of times in Marvel comics. He also founded the Defenders alongside the Hulk, who plays a substantial role in "Thor: Ragnarok."

Also starring Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Idris Elba, Anthony Hopkins, Karl Urban and Jeff Goldblum, "Thor: Ragnarok" opens Nov. 3, 2017.
