Disney's official fan club has seemingly confirmed what fans have suspected for months: that Marvel's Sorcerer Supreme will play a role in "Thor: Ragnarok."

A preview for D23 members of Disney's 2017 plans, from television to theme parks to film, touches upon the May release of "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" before turning to the "Thor" sequel: "If you need even more intergalactic, world-saving action, 'Thor: Ragnarok' in November brings together Thor, the Hulk, and Doctor Strange to face off against intergalactic baddies both familiar and new."

That shouldn't come as a surprise, considering photo leaked in August from the set of "Ragnarok" showed Chris Hemsworth's thunder god holding a slip of paper with Stephen Strange's address. That was followed in November by the mid-credits scene of "Doctor Strange," in which Benedict Cumberbatch's Master of the Mystic Arts offers Thor his assistance in finding the missing Odin -- if only to speed along Loki's departure from New York City.

It was widely assumed the scene would lead to a Doctor Strange cameo in "Thor: Ragnarok." However, director Taika Waititi has been coy about the possibility, saying only, "Ohhh I don’t know. I am not sure if … I don’t know actually. I can’t comment on it. It may have just been something for the fans.”

The question remains now how big of a role Cumberbatch's character will have in "Thor: Ragnarok." The very mention of him in the D23 character may suggest it's more the cameo, with Marvel looking to keep him in the public eye ahead of 2018's "Avengers: Infinity War."

Opening Nov. 3, "Thor: Ragnarok" also stars Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Anthony Hopkins, Cate Blanchett, Tessa Thompson, Jeff Goldblum, Karl Urban and Mark Ruffalo.
