James Cameron has a lot of Avatar irons in the fire, overseeing the writing of three sequels while also helping Disney Imagineers design a Pandora-themed section of Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom park.

The Disney Parks Blog has unveiled concept art for the land, which was announced in 2011 with an eye initially toward a 2015 opening. Now they're looking at 2017.

"As these concept renderings show in epic scale, in the world of Avatar guests will encounter awe-inspiring floating mountains and wander through a nighttime jungle of bioluminescent plants that are alive with light and sound," wrote Thomas Scaggs, chairman of Walt Disney Theme Parks & Resorts. "Guests will also discover what it feels like to soar into the sky riding a Banshee."

Scaggs also noted that elements from the new land will make their way into events like the daily parade.
