Disney is getting back into the Robin Hood game, but this time in live-action.

Deadline reports the House of Mouse bought a spec script from newcomer Brandon Barker called Nottingham & Hood. The film is said to be similar in tone to a franchise whose success the studio has been trying to replicate, Pirates of the Caribbean.

Meanwhile, Sony's trying to go for an Avengers vibe with its own version of Robin Hood and his Merry Men, helmed by Cory Goodman and Jeremy Lott. The idea there is to put the characters into interconnected films.

Sony's project was announced in October, so it would seem to be further along, but two months in Hollywood time isn't all that much.
