Don't get your hopes up for a new "Tron" film anytime soon: Disney "has chosen not to move forward" with a third film in the franchise, according to The Hollywood Reporter. This follows after reports from as recently as early April stating that "Tron: Legacy" stars Olivia Wilde and Garrett Hedlund would return for a sequel, though THR's sources say the film was never "officially" greenlit.

"Tron: Legacy," directed by Joseph Kosinski -- also reported to return for a sequel -- was released in 2010, and grossed a worldwide box office total of $400 million ($172 domestic) off of a reported $170 million production budget. It followed nearly 30 years after 1982's original "Tron," a sci-fi cult classic.
