A Wrinkle in Time is based on the 1962 fantasy novel of the same name written by Madeleine L’Engle. The novel follows 14-year-old Meg, her younger brother and a classmate as they travel through space and time in search of her missing astrophysicist father, who disappeared while working on secret government project involving moving between planets by means of a fifth dimension.

Directed by Ava DuVernay, from a screenplay by Jennifer Lee (Frozen), the film features Oprah Winfrey as Mrs. Which, Reese Witherspoon as Mrs. Whatsit, and Mindy Kaling as Mrs. Who.

L’Engle’s award-winning novel was followed by four sequels: A Wind in the Door, A Swiftly Tilting Planet, Many Waters and An Acceptable Time, referred to collectively as the Time Quintet.
