Early this year, Disney Cruise Line introduced "Star Wars" Day at Sea, a one-day celebration on select Caribbean sailings that features character appearances, special activities and merchandise, and film screenings. Now Marvel is getting in on the action.

Marvel Day at Sea will debut in fall 2017 aboard the Disney Magic during seven special voyages departing from New York City.

The one-day events will include meet-and-greets, trivia games, Marvel-themed activities and arts and crafts in the Marvel's Avengers Academy, and a party on the upper deck that culminates with a display of themes pyrotechnics, lighting and sound effects and, of course, heroes and villains. There will also by screenings of the latest Marvel theatrical releases, as well as Disney XD animated series like "Marvel's Avengers Assemble" and "Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy."

Disney Cruise Line has had a Marvel presence since 2013, when the Oceaneer Club aboard the Disney Magic was renovated to add Marvel's Avengers Academy, a children's activity center designed to resemble the command center of S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier. The Disney Wonder underwent similar “reimagineering” in September, in part to make way for its own Marvel Super Hero Academy, with Spider-Man serving as the children's guide.

Marvel Day at Sea will be part of the seven- and eight-night Disney Magic Bahamian cruises departing from New York City on Oct. 6, 14 and 28, 2017, and Nov. 4, 11 and 18, 2017. The event will also be on one seven-night Canadian coast cruise leaving New York City on Oct. 21, 2017.
