In an unsurprising move, Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn confirmed more Deadpool was on the way following the merger between Disney and 21st Century Fox.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Horn is said to have made a joke early in his presentation that there would be more Deadpool to come. He also referenced a tweet by Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds, which featured the Merc With a Mouth wearing Mickey Mouse ears on a school bus. While it remains to be seen just when the Merc will return following the success of the first two installments, it would appear Deadpool could very well see a third film come sooner rather than later under the Disney banner.

However, any official details regarding the status of a new film are still far off. While Horn welcomed Fox's mutants into the fold in Disney's sizzle reel at CinemaCon, even confirming both New Mutants and Dark Phoenix were still set for theatrical releases, that's about all the news we've received regarding the X-Men following the merger. Of course, this could change when Marvel Studios returns to Hall H at Comic-Con International this summer.

The first Deadpool film was a massive success, raking in an astounding $783 million at the worldwide box office back in 2016. And while the second failed to earn as much critical praise as its predecessor, it still went on to earn $785 million at the worldwide box office and even spawned a PG-13 cut titled Once Upon a Deadpool.
