Many fans of the 1988 action film Die Hard argue that the classic movie -- which takes place on Christmas Eve -- is a Christmas movie. A new storybook from comedian Doogie Horner (A Delicate Man) and illustrator JJ Harrison (Clarence) looks to capitalize on the debate by re-telling the film's story in the style of "The Night Before Christmas."

A Die Hard Christmas: The Illustrated Holiday Classic hits shelves on October 17, 2017. The synopsis is as follows:

All John McClane wants for Christmas is to reunite with his estranged family. But when his wife's office holiday party turns into a deadly hostage situation, he has to save her life before he can get home in time for Christmas!

The unconventional fan-favorite movie Die Hard is now an illustrated storybook—complete with machine guns, European terrorists, and a cop who's forced to rely on all his cunning and skills (and the help of a fellow officer) to save the day. Based on the classic "Night Before Christmas" poem and filled with whimsical illustrations, this cleverly reimagined homage is destined to become a holiday classic.

Originally titled "A Visit from St. Nicholas," the poem more commonly known as "The Night Before Christmas" was first published in 1823 anonymously before Clement Clarke Moore took credit for it in 1837.

There have already been five movies in the Die Hard franchise. The sixth film, Die Hard: Year One, is in early production and does not have a release date. There are few concrete details about the plot, but it will be both a prequel and a sequel, with Bruce Willis expected to return as John McClane.
