The Defenders are coming to Netflix, and if the latest teaser is any indication, one of the Marvel heroes announced as part of the series' ensemble cast will be more foe than friend...

The 14-second teaser showcases the stone coffin we last saw in the final act of "Daredevil" Season 2, when Elektra's body was placed within it by the Hand. As longtime Marvel Comics readers know, Elektra doesn't tend to remain dead, so when it was announced that Elodie Hung had joined the cast of the ensemble series, it wasn't exactly a huge surprise. The tweet accompanying the video, however, is the first solid indication that she'll be firmly under the Hand's control when she appears on the show, rather than an ally to Matt, Luke, Jessica and Danny.

Update: Yung followed up on the Defenders' tweet with one of her own regarding Elektra's return from the grave.

Although little has been revealed about the plot of “The Defenders,” we do know that the four key heroes meet at offices at Midland Circle, which viewers of “Daredevil” will recognize as the location of the enormous hole in the ground discovered by Matt Murdock and Elektra in Season Two. That, along with the new video teaser, indicates the Hand plays a significant role in the miniseries. How Sigourney Weaver’s Alexandra fits in remains to be seen.

Executive produced by Douglas Petrie, Marco Ramirez, Drew Goddard and Jeph Loeb, “Marvel’s Defenders” arrives on Netflix August 18 2017 and stars Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, Finn Jones, Simone Missick, Elodie Yung, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Carrie-Anne Moss, Eka Darville, Rosario Dawson, Rachael Taylor, Scott Glenn, Jessica Henwick and Sigourney Weaver.
