The photos, which can be found on Getty Images, depict stars Charlie Cox and Krysten Ritter as they filmed on location Friday in New York City. Although the shots aren't revealing, they'll undoubtedly bring to mind a sequence featuring the two characters from the Marvel Comics series "Alias."

Premiering this summer on Netflix, the eight-episode miniseries brings together Cox's Murdock and Ritter's Jones with Luke Colter's Luke Cage and Finn Jones' Danny Rand to confront a threat that's too big for any one of them to handle alone. Details of "The Defenders" remain closely guarded, but we do know that Sigourney Weaver's Alexandra is the primary antagonist, and that the four heroes meet at Midland Circle, where Matt and Elektra discovered that mysterious hole in "Daredevil" Season Two, which may suggest the Hand also plays a role.

We also know that Danny Rand is pivotal to bringing together the Defenders to confront this substantial, yet "street-level," crisis.

“I can’t describe too much, but I can say that we knew it had to be something big,” said executive producer Marco Ramirez. “We knew it would take something massive to pull these four characters from their individual worlds to work together, but also small enough that it felt like it existed in our world. It needed to be a crisis that brought these people together, but it still needed to be a very street-level crisis. That’s the world we’re dealing with, so it couldn’t be anything too sci-fi or too supernatural or big. That’s the stuff of the movies.”

Arriving this summer on Netflix, “Marvel’s The Defenders” stars Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, Finn Jones, Elodie Yung, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Carrie-Anne Moss, Eka Darville, Rosario Dawson, Rachael Taylor and Scott Glenn.
