Justice League actor Joe Manganiello revealed the details surrounding the plot for a canceled solo film centered on his character, Deathstroke.

During an appearance at Justice Con, Manganiello revealed plot details for the canceled movie starring the DC character, despite the film never having a script. "It was more of a Tom Clancy ripped from the headlines sort of story, or even like a Bourne Identity where it was going to be really grounded, and political with military drama as far as what it would take to go from devoting his life to his country for this life he believed in to, you know, having the rug pulled out from underneath him and being stabbed in the back and not knowing who to trust," Manganiello said.

According to Manganiello, the film would have involved Deathstroke's ex-wife Adeline Kane, their young children, as well as Wintergreen and Talia al Ghul. Manganiello also revealed that his script for the movie would have also included things like an origin story for Deathstroke's sword and ties to the League of Shadows.

Manganiello has spoken previously on why the film had been canceled, saying that Warner Bros. did not see it "as a priority to make a $40 million movie about a villain origin story." The actor also stated that the film would have seen Deathstroke in Washington D.C. seeking revenge on people in the government who had wronged him. In addition to a solo movie, Manganiello's Deathstroke was originally intended to be the main villain for The Batman back when Ben Affleck was still a part of the movie. Manganiello's Deathstroke can be seen in Zack Snyder's Justice League.

In Zack Snyder's Justice League, determined to ensure Superman's ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne aligns forces with Diana Prince with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.

Zack Snyder's Justice League stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Ray Porter as Darkseid, Ciarán Hinds as Steppenwolf, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon. The film is currently available on HBO Max.
