While it was just announced in April, “Batman: Arkham Origins” is set for release October 25, continuing the popular “Batman: Arkham” series of video games from DC Comics and WB Games. The game serves as a prequel to “Arkham Asylum” as eight of the world’s greatest assassins come to Gotham City on Christmas Eve to kill Batman. WB Games Montreal has released a teaser trailer containing a first look at a cinematic battle between Batman and Deathstroke the Terminator, indicating a full trailer will be available May 20.
While the teaser is exciting, the game will likely differ slightly from previous installments, as “Arkham Asylum” and “Arkham City” developer Rocksteady Studios isn’t onboard for “Arkham Origins.” Likewise, the previous “Batman: Arkham” scribe Paul Dini hasn’t come back for “Arkham Origins” and the status of the voice cast — notably, “Batman: The Animated Series” voice actor Kevin Conroy — is currently unknown. It’s likely more will come to light when the full trailer releases next week.
“Batman: Arkham Origins” releases October 25 for PC, PlayStation 3, Wii U and Xbox 360.
