After it was reported earlier today that "Stranger Things" punch drunk sheriff David Harbour has screen tested for the time-traveling mutant Cable in the upcoming "Deadpool 2," Collider just revealed that Michael Shannon was also in the running. Both Shannon and Harbour have already been in DCEU -- Shannon of course playing Zod in "Man of Steel" and "Batman v Superman" while Harbour played Dexter Tolliver in "Suicide Squad."

While Shannon is no longer being considered, he's made it into an impressive club of actors who were are in the running to play Cable, which now includes Dolph Lundgren, Ron Pearlman, Stephen Lang, Russel Crowe -- and even Coach Taylor himself, Kyle Chandler.

Casting rumors for the robotic-armed silver fox have been swirling since the post- credits scene of "Deadpool" confirmed his role in the sequel. Unfortunately, there's been no official word for casting Kiera Knightly...yet.
