Filming has officially wrapped on Deadpool 2 according to the film's co-writer Rheet Rheese. Rheese tweeted that principal photography wrapped with the caption: "That’s a wrap! Deadpool 2 is in the can!"RELATED: Deadpool 2 Set Photos Tease Marvel’s Mutant Response Division

The sequel, out in the summer next year, reunites Rheese with fellow writer Paul Wernick from the first movie, and fans will be hoping for some sort of teaser soon. Plot details have been kept relatively secret thus far, apart from a hint at the villainous Mutant Response Division. Ryan Reynolds returns as Deadpool with Josh Brolin joining as the time-traveling mutant Cable and Zazie Beetz debuting as the gun-toting Domino.

With John Wick director David Leitch taking over from Tim Miller, fans are assured an action-packed ride, but just as many laughs from the first film, especially with Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Stefan Kapičić as Colossus and Karan Soni as the anxiety-ridden cab driver Dopinder all returning.

Deadpool was critically and financially successful for Fox, getting the studio back on track with their X-Men universe, and helping pave the way for Logan with its R-rated success. Leitch's sequel is poised to be even more important given that it's set to be the launching pad for the X-Force movie featuring the Deadpool 2 cast as both Deadpool and Domino have been key members of this mercenary unit Cable started in the comics.

Directed by David Leitch, Deadpool 2 sees the return of Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, T.J. Miller as Weasel, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Stefan Kapičić as the voice of Colossus and Karan Soni as Dopinder, with newcomers Zazie Beetz as Domino, Josh Brolin as Cable, Julian Dennison in an unknown role and Jack Kesy as a villain widely thought to be Black Tom Cassidy. The film opens June 1, 2018.
