As the pre-film trailer before "Logan" puts it, "Deadpool 2" is coming, albeit "not soon enough." And while many fans can't wait to see what's next for the Merc with a Mouth, there are more than a few fans eagerly awaiting the return of Brianna Hildebrand's Negasonic Teenage Warhead.

Speaking to Screen Rant at SXSW, where she’s promoting her new teen slasher-comedy "Tragedy Girls," Hildebrand said that while she couldn't talk about anything in the upcoming film's script, based purely on the wardrobe ideas she has seen, she believes Negasonic "will be a lot cooler" in "Deadpool 2." “I think it’s cool that she’s grown and matured," the actress said, "and she still has so much of this essence of a punk kid.”

Does that mean the character will ditch her trademark buzzcut and standard-issue X-Men costume in favor of the goth look originally sported below by her comic book namesake? That seems unlikely, particularly since the only thing the characters share is a name, what with her comic book counterpart sporting completely different powers and dying in her debut issue.

What is clear is that Hildebrand really relishes playing the character. “I felt so close to Negasonic in that she reminded me so much of myself," she told Screen Rant. "Like young, teenage/tweenage, angsty like pissed off Brianna is who she reminded me of. It was just like, ‘Oh! She’s so cute. I get her, you know?’ So yeah. That was super exciting to see that people liked her too because it felt like people liked me, or the part of me in there somewhere.”

The “Deadpool” sequel is directed by David Leitch (“John Wick”), and stars Reynolds, joined by (so far) Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Zazie Beets as Domino, Karan Soni as Dopinder and, presumably, Stefan Kapičić as the voice of Colossus. It’s targeted for release on March 2, 2018.
