SPOILER WARNING: This article contains spoilers for tonight's episode of “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” “The Justice Society of America.”

Well, that was fast, and in more ways than one. Tonight, in only its second episode of its second season, "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" saw its first major death. And, true to the episode's title, it was a member of The Justice Society of America. The victim? Hourman (Patrick J. Adams). The culprit? Reverse Flash (Matt Letscher). While the killing didn't involve any blood, it was still a particularly brutal end. To get to a much-needed amulet from the Nazis (most of the episode continues to take place in 1942), the speedster must first dispatch of the hero. He does so by clasping both hands together and rapidly phasing them through Hourman's chest, seemingly stopping his heart.

Given the size of their team, it was only inevitable that someone from the JSA would get killed at some point this season. Still, it's surprising that it happened so soon, and to the first team member that showed themselves to the Legends. When Hourman made his debut on the series in last season's finale, it seemed he would be destined for a more prominent role in the story. Guess not. Then again, it's fairly easy to bring someone back from the dead in the world of the show, so maybe we haven't seen the last of him.

Airing Thursdays at 8 pm ET/PT on The CW, "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" stars Arthur Darvill as Rip Hunter, Brandon Routh as the Atom, Victor Garber and Franz Drameh as Firestorm, Caity Lotz as White Canary, Maisie Richardson-Seller as Vixen, Dominic Purcell as Heatwave, and Nick Zano as Citizen Steel.
