Writer Tom Taylor (Injustice, Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man) has been teasing his new project for DC Comics on social media with the hashtag #DCEASED as his calling card. Additionally, he strongly hinted that this new project will see the end of Darkseid as we know him.

Taylor has now revealed the first sneak peek at this mysterious new project, posting an incredibly unsettling splash page by artist Trevor Hairsine (Judge Dredd, Ultimate Six) on Facebook. The page features Superman himself floating above a full-blown riot on the streets of what appears to be Metropolis.

Multiple buildings are on fire, civilians are horribly maiming each other (or worse), people can be seen falling through the air and vehicles are presumably exploding. Upon seeing this, the Man of Steel can only look with utter despair on his face.

Additionally, the image is accompanied by an ominous caption that reads, "Screaming... The world is screaming."

Taylor has already teased cataclysmic ramifications regarding the events of the #DCEASED project, including Superman "breaking the jaw of a God" and the Justice League's "finest hour" being "their last together."

Of course, the writer is no stranger to writing the DC universe in a state of large-scale turmoil, as evidence by his bestselling comic book adaptations of the video games Injustice and Injustice 2. This time around, however, it appears that the stakes may be even greater for DC's costumed heroes.
