Jim Lee may be taking the next two issues of "Justice League" off, but that doesn't mean the DC Comics Co-Publisher has stopped drawing.

Much like his efforts with the DC Universe Online video game and the publisher's New 52 titles, the fan favorite artist has taken to the drawing board to do designs for one of DC's next big pushes. This time out, Lee reimagines the heroes at the heart of "Earth 2" -Â the incoming James Robinson/Nicola Scott title reintroducing the parallel reality that's home to an aging DC trinity and the Justice Society.

Today, DC's The Source blog started rolling out Lee's "Earth 2" designs with the alternate version of the Dark Knight. "Who will Batman kill to save his own daughter?" series editor Pat McCallum told the blog. "Right out of the gate that should tell you we're dealing with a different kind of Dark Knight here. More ruthless, dangerous...the costume is familiar and yeah, there is a Wayne under the mask, but we're looking at a man desperate to save the only family he has left. 'Earth' 2 is about to become a very bad place to be a bad guy."

The monthly launches this May alongside sister title "World's Finest" and a host of other "Second Wave" series for the New 52. Stay tuned to CBR for more art throughout the day.
