Henry Cavill might be making a Superman return in the DC Universe but Amy Adams, who portrayed Lois Lane alongside Cavill's Man of Steel, hasn't been approached yet.During a chat with Variety at the red carpet premiere of her new film, Disenchanted, Adams was asked if she has been approached to reprise her role as Lois Lane given the fact that Cavill's Superman has been confirmed for a return to the DCU. The actor admitted DC Studios hasn't spoken to her about it and when asked if she wanted to come back, she revealed that it would be great if it was her but if the company went in another direction, she would support the decision.RELATED: Will the New DC Studios Team Make Peace With Its Cyborg, Ray Fisher?

Adams followed the likes of Margot Kidder and Kate Bosworth when she took on the role of reporter Lois Lane in 2013's Man of Steel. Directed by Zack Synder and serving as a reboot of the Superman film franchise, the movie follows Clark Kent (Cavill) as he learns he is an alien from the planet Krypton with superhuman abilities. Eventually, he assumes the role of being mankind's protector as Superman, and while Lois initially wants to expose Kent's secret to the Daily Planet newspaper, she ultimately drops the story after hearing about his adoptive father, Jonathan Kent's (Kevin Costner), sacrifice to keep Clark's abilities hidden from the public.

The actor returned to reprise her role in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, where criminal mastermind Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) manipulates Batman (Ben Affleck) to fight Superman. Lois is used as a means to spring Superman into action when Luthor kidnaps her and his adoptive mother, Martha Kent (Diane Lane).

Amy Adams' Last Time Playing Lois Lane

Adams made two more appearances as Lois Lane in 2017's Justice League and 2021's Zack Snyder's Justice League. The former was in the middle of being helmed by Snyder when family tragedy forced him to back out. He was replaced by Joss Whedon, who infused more of his vision for the theatrical cut. In the film, Lois is used as a contingency plan to calm down Superman when they resurrect him following his demise in the previous movie. Once he calms down, he leaves with her to his family home in Smallville where she reminds him of his humanity. This prompts him to aid the rest of the Justice League in order to stop the villain, Steppenwolf.

Zack Snyder's Justice League came to be when fans began demanding the "Snyder Cut" following the poor reception of Justice League. The film was plagued with production problems once Whedon assumed the role of director and the end result was met with a polarizing response from the fans. Zack Snyder's Justice League, which clocks in at 242 minutes compared to the 120 minutes of the theatrical cut, restored Snyder's intended vision for the film, and it was ultimately released on HBO Max to a much stronger response in comparison to its predecessor. Adam's role in this version of the film remained a subplot as she deals with the grief of Superman's death, but she decides to leave the Daily Planet in this cut while she stays with the job in Whedon's take on the film.

Adams can next be seen in Disenchanted, which hits Disney+ on Nov. 18.
