Snyder and Lee's "Superman Unchained" topped the sales charts for a second month in a row
Diamond Comics has released its Top Ten charts for products released in July 2013, which finds DC Comics edging out Marvel for the top spot in dollar share, though Marvel does maintain its #1 publisher position in units moved. Image Comics ranked third, with IDW Publishing and Dark Horse rounding out the number 4 and 5 positions, respectively.
Overall, sales rose again in July, with comics seeing an increase over June of about 7.5% in dollars and units. Year-to-year, sales rose also, seeing a 12.65% increase in dollars and 11.02% increase in units when compared to July 2012.
The top selling title for the month was DC's "Superman Unchained" #2 by Scott Snyder and Jim Lee, with Snyder and Greg Capullo's "Batman" #22 taking the #2 slot. Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Picheli's "Guardians of the Galaxy" #5, featuring Angela, was Marvel's top-selling book, ranking #3. The rest of the top ten was dominated by DC's Annuals and Trinity War tie-ins and Marvel's "Superior Spider-Man."
The second collection of Matt Fraction and David Aja's "Hawkeye" was the top-selling graphic novel of the month, followed by the latest volumes of "Avatar: The Last Airbender" and "Saga."
