As the summer kicks into full swing, DC Comics will release Dog Days of Summer #1, which features the work of eight different creative teams on such characters as Animal Man, Bat-Cow, Beast Boy and Killer Croc. The 80-page issue, which retails for $9.99, releases later this week, and our preview for it teases Killer Croc returning to the swamp.

From The Flash writer Joshua Williamson and Immortal Hulk artist Kyle Hotz, "Citizen Croc" promises to go into Waylon Jones' backstory and his relationship with swamps, which have helped him disappear in times of trouble. The preview starts by children inquiring into why Waylon is wearing a coat in the hot environment. He then dives into the swamp and gets into a fight with an alligator. As he proceeds through the swamp, he picks up on the scent of an unknown "he."
