Following a weekend tease by Dave Bautista, Alcon Entertainment has confirmed the "Guardians of the Galaxy" star will join Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford and Robin Wright in the sequel to "Blade Runner."

Director Denis Villeneuve ("Sicario," "Prisoners"), the film is set several decades after the events of Ridley Scott's 1982 sci-fi classic, with Ford reprising his role as Rick Deckard. No other details about the story, or Bautista's role, have been revealed.

Scott will executive produce the film, which features a script by Michael Green and "Blade Runner" screenwriter Hampton Fancher.

Production is set to begin in July, in time for a Jan. 12, 2018, release.
