Move over Flash and Arrow, because there's potentially a new adventurer coming to The CW's primetime lineup.

The Hollywood Reporter reveals the network has a script commitment for Unnatural Selection, a new drama series focusing on 21-year-old Charles Darwin -- yep, the Charles Darwin -- and his pal Captain Robert FitzRoy's five-year journey through the Amazon. Along the way, the pair will find 19th-century South America to be filled with creatures, cities and civilizations unlike any they had ever encountered before.

The script will be penned by Adam Karp, the winner of the 2012 Humanitas Prize's New Voices Award. The writer previously worked as a writer's assistant on Friday Night Lights and Battlestar Galactica. Karp will executive produce alongside Frank Marshall and Robert Zotnowski.

Karp is also attached to CBS's Modern Gothic, which he will co-write with Supernatural's David Reed. Gothic will star a modern-day version of Dracula's Abraham "Bram" Van Helsing and focus on his attempts to solve supernatural horrors based on classic gothic tales.
