Darth Vader’s helmet played a surprisingly pivotal role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Obsessed over by the series latest antagonist, Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), the burnt piece of headgear is a fitting reminder of one of the most iconic antagonists ever to grace the big screen. Now, if simply wearing the dread Sith lord’s helmet to Halloween parties or comic conventions wasn’t enough, you can purchase an armchair fashioned in his visage.
DSD Studio has unveiled its Dark Side armchair on the Etsy storefront, a pitch-black piece of furniture made from beech wood and alcantara that appears nothing more than a normal armchair from the front, but bears the shape of Darth Vader’s mask on its back. The armchair stands at 2 feet and 11 inches high, 3 feet and 1 inch wide and 3 feet and 4 inches deep.
While the Dark Side armchair comes just in time for the 40th anniversary of Star Wars, the price tag will likely remain daunting even for the most devoted Padawan. The armchair currently retails for $11,999.99 and ships from Russia, a detail that is likely to drive the price up even further. Using Etsy’s shipping cost estimate, anyone in the Pacific Northwest looking to purchase the armchair could be set back an additional $3,500 in shipping costs.
While the price is certainly as high a Cloud City, there’s undoubtedly a Star Wars fan more than willing to shell out the cash for a finely craft piece of furniture, of which there are only 10 available. Besides, can you really put a price on always having Darth Vader at your back?
