We might not be getting Darren Aronofsky’s Wolverine movie, which would have surely paired the best there is at what he does against some of his biggest and most impressive enemies, but we are getting a team-up of a different sort from the Black Swan director.
It was announced today via Billboard that Aronofsky will direct a music video for Lou Reed and Metallica. The pair of musical giants recently released an album together called Lulu that’s received mixed reviews. The video will be for the song “Iced Honey.”
“As if making a record with Lou Reed is not enough, now I get to make a video with Darren Aronofsky, who has been among my very favorite filmmakers since his first movie, Pi,” Metallica’s drummer Lars Ulrich said. Aronofsky’s other films include Requiem For A Dream, The Fountain and The Wrestler, all of which have displayed different visual styles. Reed and Metallica have said that the album was inspired by the works of Frank Wedekind, a German playwright, so it will be interesting to see if the director takes any cues from Wedekind’s plays.
The video is said to debut later this month.
