Though the show's producers refused to commit one way or the other during the DuckTales panel at last weekend's D23 Expo in Anaheim, CA, attendees at the Disney XD reboot's Comic-Con International presentation saw it first hand: Darkwing Duck is gonna help Duckburg get a little more dangerous.

It's still not known exactly when i the first season the purple-clad hero and his adopted daughter Gosalyn will appear on the series, but there's little doubt fans will be excited at the prospect of seeing Darkwing team up again for the first time with Launchpad McQuack.

This will also mark the first time Darkwing has officially existed in the DuckTales Universe alongside Scrooge McDuck, Donald, and their nephews, Huey, Dewey and Louie. Though both the original Ducktales and Darkwing Duck series shared some characters (most prominently the aforementioned Launchpad), officially, they existed in separate universes.

“Because Launchpad appeared in DuckTales and we used Roboduck as the Superman character, the hero who gets all the glory as opposed to Darkwing, fans try to connect the two realities,” creator Tad Stones revealed in late 2016. “They are two different universes in my book. We work in the alternate Duckiverse.”

"Credit my comic book sensibilities. DW takes place in 'A' Ducktales universe but not the one you saw on TV," Stone later elaborated to CBR's managing editor Albert Ching via Twitter. "It's an alternate universe with a different Launchpad like a DC 'Elseworlds' story. And thank you for watching."

DuckTales premieres on Disney XD Aug. 12 with a one-hour movie before the series begins its regular run in September. The one-hour TV movie will air at midnight ET/PT on Disney XD, and then run for 24 consecutive hours, giving fans plenty of time to immerse themselves in this new DuckTales. The series stars David Tennant as Scrooge McDuck, Danny Pudi as Huey, Ben Schwartz as Dewey, Bobby Moynihan as Louie, Kate Micucci as Webby Vanderquack, Beck Bennett as Launchpad McQuack, Toks Olagundoye as Mrs. Beakley and Tony Anselmo as Donald Duck. They’re joined by such guest stars as Lin-Manuel Miranda as Gizmoduck aka Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera, Allison Janney as Goldie O’Gilt, Margo Martindale as as Ma Beagle, Paul F.
