The Gunslinger video begins with an open door in the center of a dark wasteland. Elba's Roland Deschain is heard saying, "I do not kill with my gun. I kill with my heart," as he loads both pistols with ammunition in slow motion. The next video shows McConaughey's villainous Man in Black walking and whistling past dead bodies on a snowy terrain while declaring, "The war is over. You know what's coming. The tower will fall." The video ends with him stepping through the door to the titular tower.

A mix of horror, fantasy, sci-fi and western influences, “The Dark Tower” series tells the story of Deschain, “The Gunslinger,” as he makes his way across the decaying “Mid-World” armed with a pair of revolvers in search of a mysterious antagonist, and the tower that serves as a portal through space and time.

Directed by Nikolaj Arcel, written by Anders Thomas Jensen, Akiva Goldsman and Jeff Pinkner, the film loosely adapts King’s 1982 novel “The Gunslinger,” from the middle of the story.

Opening Feb. 17, 2017, “The Dark Tower” stars Idris Elba, Matthew McConaughey, Abbey Lee, Katheryn Winnick, Tom Taylor, Fran Kranz, Claudia Kim and Jackie Earle Haley.
