Unused concept art from Simon Kinberg's Dark Phoenix reveals more details about how the 2019 X-Men movie would have featured the return of the Hellfire Club.

Although the Hellfire Club previously appeared in Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class, the latest concept art confirms they were due to rise again in the original script for Dark Phoenix. As well as facing off against the power of the Phoenix Force and the Jessica Chastain's shapeshifting Vuk, Charles Xavier's gifted youngsters nearly had to contend with the team of mutant supremacists.

Posting on Instagram, concept artist Phil Boutte shared a series of atmospheric designs for the Hellfire Club. The artwork depicts notable Hellfire members, including Harry Leland, the mustached Freidrich Von Roehm, Andrea von Strucker and Andreas von Strucker (aka The Twins), Shinobi Shaw, a returning Emma Frost and the Red Lotus Gang.

It appears as if Boutte only ever got to the sketching phase. Boutte noted that he worked with costume designer Daniel Orlandi for the drawings and confirmed it was definitely for Dark Phoenix.
