Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises doesn’t open until July 20 — that’s more than six months away — but that doesn’t mean tickets haven’t already gone on sale. According to Deadline, some IMAX theaters that screened the film’s prologue with Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol decided to offer opening-night tickets for The Dark Knight Rises: The IMAX Experience and, no real surprise here, some of those showings have already sold out.
While screenings past the midnight opening haven’t been put on sale, New York’s AMC Loews Lincoln Square theater has completely sold out that initial show, while the AMC Loews Universal City cineplex in Los Angeles has only a pair of wheelchair spots left.
Meanwhile, the Rave IMAX at Howard Hughes Center on LA’s Westside and the Metreon in San Francisco still have seats available. Also note that all of the theaters mentioned have legitimate IMAX projection instead of the digital kind.
The Dark Knight Rises stars Christian Bale as Batman, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, Tom Hardy as Bane, Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tale, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake, Michael Caine as Alfred, Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon and Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox.
