While talking with Total Film, actor Tom Hardy recalls his initial excitement over being asked to play Bane. “Hang on a minute. You’re asking me to come round the world with you in a Batman movie, playing a villain, and the only downside to it is I have to wear a mask? Hmmm, let me think. COWBOYS & ALIENS
In a Superhero Box Office update, Speakeasy reports that the film tied with “The Smurfs” over the weekend. “Both grossed $36.2 million over the weekend, according to early studio estimates. Final numbers will be released Monday and positions could then shift,” they write. The article also calls it a win for “Smurfs,” but a loss for “Cowboys.”

Heat Vision reports that Drew Pearce, creator of the British sit-com “No Heroics” and a writer on “Iron Man 3,” has been tapped to adapt the Peter Tomasi/Keith Champagne comic book for Paramount. The article describes the project as centering on a “Superman-like hero and his relationship with a police officer who lands the plum job of being the man’s human handler. The relationship begins to fray when the officer begins to suspect that the hero adored the world-over is behind a series of ghastly murders.”

SUPERMAN: THE MAN OF STEEL
The Kane County Chronicle (via Latino Review) reports
the film will be coming to Sugar Grove, Illinois in the next few weeks. “The Illinois Department of Transportation announced a shutdown of Route 56 from Route 47 to Galena Boulevard starting at 3 p.m. Aug. 7 until 8 p.m. Aug. 10,” they write. It is not known what scenes will be filmed there.

I haven’t posted news about the upcoming “Alien” quasi-prequel in a while because all the interesting stuff keeps getting pulled down; but no longer!
